Athens:

1. They have a party for the Dionysos. The God of wine.

2. They have three leaders called Archons

3. The best mask in the play is the sad mask

4. Socrates is a thinker and has lots of ideas on life like whats right or wrong or if the world is round or flat.

5.A lady that makes the cloaks is called a weaver

Sparta:

1. The Athens were at war with the Persians

2. They have two kings and lots of different politicians that rule there.

3. The spartans use iron for money because it isn't worth much to anyone else so no one would steal it.

4. The soldiers live in barracks where they train everyday.

5. A Tanner is a weightlifter and they are as strong as any other Spartan.

Olympia:

1. They have the olympics in olympia where they do many different activities

2. The Temple of Zeus is in Olympia

3. Women aren't allowed to be in the city for the games, as long as they work at the temple then they are allowed.

4. The Statue of Zeus is one of the 7 wonders of the world 

5. They were in war with Persia and prayed alot.

Ancient Greece Overview:
Athens
1. Girls didn't go to school. Their mothers taught them at home. Some learned to read and write but most learned spinning, weaving and housework.
2. The Acropolis is a hill in the Athens. Many beautiful temples were built on it to worship the many different Gods and Godesses.
Sparta
1. After battles, Spartan soldiers used to hang their weapons and armour in the trees to thank the Gods for the victory.
2. Sparta was surrounded by mountains, which helped to protect it from invaders.
Olympia
1. Poseidon God of the Sea and Earthquakes. He protects sailors and causes shipwrecks, he is also Zeus's brother.
2. Athena is the Goddess of War, Wisdom& Arts. She protects the city of Athens and olive trees.


Birth place of western civilization:

- Its people created the worlds first democratic government

-The first olympic games

-made important contributions to architecture, art , literature, science and mathematics.

City States:

- A greek city state was nothing more then a tiny country made up of a single city and the lands and villages that surround it

- The-main city states of ancient greece were Troy, Athens Corinth Thebes,Ephesus, Rhodes and Sparta.

- Each city state was unique, it had its own system of government, own laws, and its own military.

Religion

· Religion was taught through folk tales also known as myths.

· They had many gods they worshipped and many of them were told to be immortal and would live forever. Each god had a different role.

· Zeus was the king of all gods and ruled the sky. He was the father of many important gods and goddesses.

Democracy

· Athens was the birthplace of democracy.

· Democracy is a Greek word for “Government by the People.”

· Women were not allowed to vote.

Olympic Games

· Olympic Games started in Ancient Olympia in 766 B.C.

· The Olympic Games were held in Zeus honor.

· They had statues of all the people who won the Olympic games in Zeus’ temple.

· Women were not allowed to attend.

· If they won, they would receive a crown made out of olive leaves from Zeus’ sacred tree.

Theatre

· Greeks loved to watch all day plays.

· The Greeks were very famous for their plays, which were based on legends.

· The actors were only men, women could not be in the plays.

· You’re an Athens women and you got caught attempting to vote, lose 150 dollars.
· You called a Spartan a “Trembler,” lose 100 dollars.
